Origins of Insects - Watercolor Animals - Art Camp for Kidsin Kirkland, WA.
_ Class Description: Butterflies, Bees and Beatles, oh my! Children, Ages 6-12, will explore insects and animals while sharpening their observation skills in various media, of watercolor, pencil and pen and ink. Artists as scientists will come to understand how insects and animals adapt for survival, evolve camouflage, and reproduce through researching, discovering and drawing animals and insects of their choice.
Technical Drawing/Painting Exercises: Symmetry, primary shapes, shadow shape drawing, symmetry, pattern paintings, shaded drawings, contour and blind contour drawings, transparent glazing, color mixing and color rainbow wheels.
Butterfly T-Shirts: This hands on activity encourages young minds to explore primary colors, understand basic geometric shapes, concepts of reflection symmetry, rotation, and slides as they transform an ordinary white T-shirt, combine stencils and construct their very own butterfly T-Shirt.
